Currently seen as the host of ESPN 2’s First Take, Skip Bayless is known for defending his strong opinions. First Take has evolved into a daily studio show that debates the day’s most interesting sports topics, designed to present and challenge the opinions of Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith, as well as various sports personalities. Bayless joined ESPN in 2004 as a writer for and a commentator for Cold Pizza.

Bayless previously worked for more than 20 years in Dallas with the Dallas Morning New and Dallas Times Herald, Chicago at the Chicago Tribune and for the Knight-Ridder media company based at the San Jose Mercury News. While in Dallas he was voted “Texas Sportswriter of the Year” three times and while in Chicago he was voted “Illinois Sportswriter of the Year”. He also was a sports writer for the Miami Herald and the Los Angeles Times. Bayless penned three best-selling books chronicling three eras of the Dallas Cowboys.

A graduate of Vanderbilt University, he attended on the university’s prestigious Fred Russel-Grantland Rice Sportswriting Scholarship.
