Randi Zuckerberg is an entrepreneur, investor, author, and media personality. As an early employee at Facebook, she led major marketing initiatives in the company’s formative years, helped launch the live streaming video industry, and was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2011 for her innovative coverage of the midterm elections, combining television and social media. She helped create Facebook Live, which is now used by more than a billion people around the globe.
After leaving Facebook, she launched Zuckerberg Media, with the mission of creating media content that puts intelligent, tech-savvy, entrepreneurial women and girls at the forefront. She has published three books: Dot Complicated, a New York Times bestseller, about our (sometimes overly) wired lives, and Dot, a children’s book about a tech-savvy little girl, which airs as an animated children’s show on NBC Sprout, in partnership with Jim Henson Productions. Randi’s third book, Missy President, a graphic novel about a 9-year-old girl who becomes President, was released in Fall 2016.
In this new world of social media, though, you have to be everywhere your audience is! In addition to books, Randi is executive producer on three television shows, hosts a weekly business talk radio show on SiriusXM, is a frequent contributor on The Today Show, host of “American Dreams” on HSN, where she finds entrepreneurs from all over the country and helps them sell their products in real time on-air. And of course, is highly active on social media, with more than 2 million subscribers across her different platforms.
When she’s not creating content about entrepreneurs, she is investing in and supporting them. Randi is an active angel investor, with a portfolio that she is proud to say has 53% female founders and almost 30% diverse founders (industry averages for both these categories are single digits). She enjoys mentoring entrepreneurs, building the next generation of amazing businesses, and sharing best practices with audiences around the world.
In her free time, Randi loves to act and sing, and is a lifetime lover of musical theater. She voices one of the characters in her TV series Dot. And in spring 2014, Randi realized the ultimate life dream when she joined the cast of Rock of Ages on Broadway in a leading role (Regina) for 30 performances. Randi serves on the American Theater Wing’s Tech Advisory Board, as well as the nominating committee for The Astaire Awards. Randi relishes her role as an ambassador for the arts and feels that in an increasingly digital world, connectivity is nothing without incredible art and content to connect to.
But above all, Randi’s favorite job is mom. She has a B.A. in psychology from Harvard University and currently enjoys life in New York City with her husband and two young sons.
