Jonathan Davis, better known by his stage name Q-Tip, is an American rapper and record producer. He embarked on his musical career alongside high school buddies, Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Jarobi White, making up the East Coast hip hop group A Tribe Called Quest. The band signed with Jive Records in 1985. Widely acknowledged as one of the most popular and influential groups in all of hip hop, they released the acclaimed LPs The Low End Theory and Midnight Marauders.

After the group broke up in 1998, Q-Tip pursued a solo career, releasing the singles “Vivrant Thing” and “Breathe and Stop.” He has released three albums, titled Amplified, Kamall/The Abstract and The Renaissance, which was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 2010 Grammys. He is also featured on tracks with the Beastie Boys, The Chemical Brothers, R.E.M., Statik Skeleton, Mark Ronson and Busta Rhymes.

Also a respected record producer, Q-Tip has worked with some of the most talented artists of the 21st century. He recently collaborated with Kanye and Jay-Z on Watch the Throne. He is currently producing Kanye’s upcoming 2015 album. Q-Tip has worked with Apache, Nas, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, Esperanza Spalding, Mary J. Blige, Asher Roth, Wale, Chitty Bang, Beyoncé and John Legend.
