Poppy Harlow is an Emmy nominated journalist and the anchor of CNN Newsroom Weekend, which airs Saturdays from 3-6pm ET and 7-8pm ET, and Sundays from 5-8pm ET. Based in New York City, Poppy Harlow is also a correspondent for CNN covering breaking news, as well as reporting features and investigative stories. Harlow covers major international business events including the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Annual meeting, and Fortune’s Brainstorm Summits. She has interviewed the heads of the world’s largest banks, Warren Buffett, Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz, Jay-Z, and countless other luminaries. She also focuses her reporting on women leaders in business for CNN International’s Leading Women series.

Harlow’s reporting has won numerous industry awards, including the Gracie Award for Best online investigative feature on financial fraud, and SABEW’s Best in Business award for online video. She was nominated for an Emmy in 2015 for Outstanding Business and Economic Reporting.

Poppy brings her segment “American Opportunity” to the stage in a captivating lecture about social issues such as income equality across race, gender and economic class. She tells stories from behind the scenes on her interviews with the world’s top CEOs and disruption in business.

In a separate college program, Poppy discusses with students her story of becoming a journalist. Previously set on being a lawyer, she received straight A’s but did not get accepted to her top law schools choices. But that was a blessing in disguise – as she would soon find out. She had worked in news while in college and quickly moved up the ranks, being hired on-air at CNN at age 25. She will host a workshop with students to develop their reporting, interviewing, and on-camera skills.

Poppy also brings her extensive interview experience to the stage as a moderator, having facilitated panels that include The World Economic Forum, the Microsoft CEO Summit, and the Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit.

Previously, Poppy was the anchor for CNNMoney.com, serving as the primary host for the site’s video network, as well as a business correspondent on CNN, CNN International and HLN, covering business and economic news and how it impacts policy and people around the globe. She interviews prominent business leaders, policymakers, small business owners and consumers on a wide range of topics.

She is a regular speaker at industry events, donates her time to developing emerging high school and collegiate journalists, and works as a mentor through the Boys & Girls Club and sits on the board of directors of the Madison Square Boys & Girls Club in New York City.

Born and raised in Minnesota, Harlow graduated Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Columbia University.
