Inspired by the legacy of his grandfather of Jacques Cousteau, Philippe is an Emmy-nominated TV host, author, speaker, and social entrepreneur who has established himself as a prominent leader in the environmental movement.

He is the host and executive producer of Awesome Planet, a television series now filming its fourth season which is syndicated on Fox and Hulu for which he was nominated for a daytime Emmy as best host. Philippe is also host of The Aquatic World of Philippe Cousteau on GreatBigStory.com now in its second season—with over 10 million views it is one of the most successful shows on the network. He is also producer and host of a three-part series exploring innovation for sustainability in business sponsored by United Technologies.

As a special correspondent for CNN, he has hosted several award-winning shows, including Going Green and Expedition Sumatra.

Philippe collaborates frequently with his wife Ashlan, a journalist and host with over a decade of experience in the industry. Together they are hosts of a new Travel Channel show called Caribbean Pirate Gold premiering in the summer of 2017. In 2016 they co-hosted Nuclear Sharks, the #1 show for Discovery’s Shark Week. In 2015 they co-hosted a three-part series with Takepart.com, exploring tiger and rhino conservation in Nepal called Treasures of the Terai.

As an author, Philippe latest children’s book, Follow the Moon Home has been chosen for the prestigious Texas Bluebonnet Award Master List. In addition, he has co-written two award-winning books, Going Blue and Make a Splash, both of which have won multiple awards, including Learning Magazine’s 2011 “Teachers’ Choice Award for the Family,” a Gold Nautilus Award, and a 2010 ForeWord Reviews Book of the Year Gold Award.

His conservation efforts are focused on solving global social and environmental problems. In 2004 he founded EarthEcho International, a leading environmental education organization dedicated to inspiring youth to take action for a sustainable planet.

Philippe is also a successful social entrepreneur who believes in the power of commerce to do good. In 2012 he partnered with AdvisorShares Investments to launch the impact investment Global Echo Exchange Traded Fund on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE:GIVE). A percentage of the fund’s management fees support philanthropic projects around the world including the Panzi Hospital in Eastern Congo an award-winning hospital focused on the treatment and empowerment of women.

Philippe is a sought after speaker having hosted and keynoted various events for the United Nations, Harvard University, USC, the Society of Environmental Journalists and many more. He has testified before Congress and most recently presented at TEDx Pennsylvania Ave.

Philippe and his wife, fellow adventurer and TV host Ashlan Gorse-Cousteau, reside in Los Angeles, California.
