Jason “Jay” Williams is an entrepreneur, community leader, and an up-and-coming College Basketball Analyst for ESPN. Known for his passion, determination, work ethic, and leadership, Mr. Williams parlayed a prolific basketball career at Duke University and the NBA into a successful career off the court. After retiring from the NBA, Williams joined a sports agency as Chief of Basketball Operations before being lured away by ESPN a year and a half later.
As an entrepreneur and spokesperson, Mr. Williams is the COO and National Director of Special Events for Rising Stars Youth Foundation in New York City and was recently elected to serve as a board member for USA Basketball to help select top youth talent to represent the United States in international competition. Additionally, Mr. Williams is the spokesperson for Athletic Advantage, a Sports Physical Therapy & Performance Development Center located in Durham, N.C.; provides personal/private training sessions for the potentially elite high school and college basketball players and is the CEO of his own company, Jay LLC. Most recently, Williams was brought in as a special consultant to spearhead an initiative for 24 Hour Fitness. Mr. Williams has established himself as a premier keynote Motivational Speaker for various executive business conferences, youth foundations and charitable organizations across the USA.
Mr. Williams began his broadcasting career in 2007 at ESPN and CBS. He has been a contributor on Fox Sports Radio, 99.9 the Fan in North Carolina and various satellite sports radio nationwide stations.
As a Basketball Analyst for ESPN, Mr. Williams’ charisma, personality and extraordinary ability to articulate to the TV audience the team concept underlying different plays, individual player strengths and weakness, coaching strategies, and calculated game outcomes has led many to believe that he is the next face of college basketball for ESPN. His in-depth knowledge of the game and personal insight, coupled with his off-court ability to relate to coaches and players has given him a significant edge in covering prime-time high school and college basketball games. He aspires to broaden his broadcasting career by covering NBA games and hosting his own sports show in upcoming basketball seasons.
Jason Williams is a Duke University graduate and was the first athlete at the university to earn his degree in just three years (Sociology and Business). He was awarded the prestigious Naismith and Wooden Awards given to the nation’s top collegiate basketball player of the year in 2002. His #22 jersey is retired and hangs in the rafters of Cameron In-Door Stadium.
