    Ezra Edelman: Biography at a Glance

    • Ezra Edelman is a directed and producer best known for O.J.: Made in America, which won the Academy Award for best documentary feature.
    • He has produced and directed three films for HBO, including the Peabody Award-winning Magic & Bird: A Courtship of Rivals.
    • Edelman's storytelling features some of the most iconic figures in sports through projects such as The Luckiest Guy in the World, which follows basketball phenom Bill Walton; Seau, an exploration of the rise and fall of one of the greatest linebackers the NFL has ever seen, Junior Seau; and Cutie and the Boxer, the story of famed boxing painter Ushio Shinohara and his wife.
    • He also produced the news magazine show Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel.

    Biography

    Ezra Edelman is an award-winning filmmaker. In 2016, he directed O.J.: Made In America, which won both Academy Award for Best Documentary and an Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing. It is the third film he has directed for ESPN’s acclaimed 30-for-30 documentary series.

    In 2013, Edelman co-produced the Oscar-nominated documentary Cutie and The Boxer.

    He also has produced and directed three films for HBO, including the Peabody Award-winning Magic and Bird: A Courtship of Rivals and Brooklyn Dodgers: The Ghosts of Flatbush, which won an Emmy.

    Before beginning work in documentaries, Edelman spent seven years as a producer on the news magazine show, Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel.

    A native of Washington D.C., Ezra graduated from Yale University and currently lives in Brooklyn.
