Derek Blasberg is a writer, editor, best-selling author and one of the most recognized names in the fashion industry. The New York Times once asked, “Is Derek Blasberg the Truman Capote of his generation, or the Carrie Bradshaw?”
After graduating from New York University with degrees in Journalism and Dramatic Literature, he began his career as an assistant at Vogue. He has since contributed to numerous international editions of Vogue, the Wall Street Journal, Vanity Fair, the London Sunday Times, W, Style.com and Interview. He is currently the Editor-at-Large of Harper’s Bazaar.
In 2010, he published a best-selling collection of humorous essays called Classy: Exceptional Advice for the Extremely Modern Lady. In 2012, an expanded reissue entitled Very Classy: Even More Advice for the Extremely Modern Lady was published.
He is the founder of www.MrBlasberg.com, a website that documents his international travels and social observations. He has collaborated with some of the industry’s most iconic image-makers, including Karl Lagerfeld, David Bailey, Terry Richardson and Marilyn Minter, and in 2013, he launched his own line of irreverent stationery with Paperless Post. He has appeared as a fashion expert on The Today Show and the Nate Berkus Show; and in a series of short films with Harper’s Bazaar, he has interviewed such fashion luminaries as Marc Jacobs, Naomi Cambpell, Karlie Kloss, Lou Doillon and Carine Roitfeld.
Blasberg lives in New York City with his dog, a dachshund named Monster.
