Charlamagne tha God (born Lenard McKelvey), outspoken radio and TV personality, is quickly becoming the face of MTV2. He is currently developing a late night talk show for the network, Uncommon Sense, and can be seen on MTV and MTV2’s Guy Code, Girl Code, Guy Court, and Charlamagne and Friends.
Charlamagne is also the co-host of The Breakfast Club on Power 105.1 in New York City. The nationally syndicated morning show reaches 22 markets daily and has been named the #1 radio program three years in a row by The Source. In addition, Charlamagne’s “Brilliant Idiots” podcast regularly reaches the Top 20 on iTunes charts.
He has been profiled by the New York Times and Vibe Magazine and was dubbed “Hip Hop’s Next Howard Stern” by Rolling Stone.
McKelvey gained a huge following on social media in the 2000s for his outspokenness and often brutally honest and politically incorrect comments on The Breakfast Club and on Twitter. He became popular from being on The Wendy Williams Experience with Wendy Williams when she was still doing radio. His politically incorrect views and potentially dangerous rhetoric will either make you love him or hate him but it won’t make you ignore him.
