Winner of the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award, Tim Weiner has covered soldiers, spies, terrorism, war and revolution for 25 years. He has reported for The New York Times from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Cuba, Haiti, and many other nations around the world.
His history of the CIA, "Legacy of Ashes," is an international bestseller, translated into 24 languages, and featured on the annual "best books" lists of The New York Times, the Washington Post, the Economist, and Time magazine. The book is the foundation for a forthcoming HBO series directed by David Simon.
He has been interviewed by all the major broadcast and cable networks on the subjects of intelligence, terrorism, 21st-century warfare, and national security. His speeches take audiences into the inner workings of American power. He has lectured at the CIA and the Pentagon, at Presidential libraries and historical societies, on college campuses and at private associations. As a veteran of seven reporting tours in Afghanistan over the past 25 years, he has lectured on the American war in Afghanistan, and the likelihood that it will last another decade.
He speaks frequently on the CIA, international terrorism, American superpower, the American presidency, and the threats and risks facing governments and international corporations. He is now at work on a history of the FBI.
