Stan Verrett now anchors newly formed LA SportsCenter, ESPN's flagship studio program from ESPN's new Los Angeles facilities. Prior to this, Stan joined ESPNEWS, ESPN's 24-hour sports news television network, as an anchor in September 2000 in addition to hosting Friday Night Fights and NBA Fastbreak.

Prior to ESPN, Verrett worked as a weekend sports anchor and reporter at WDSU-TV, and NBC affiliate station, in New Orleans, La. At WDSU-TV, Verrett reported on a variety of events including the Sugar Bowl.

Verrett's career includes serving as sports anchor and reporter in Norfolk, Va. with the city's ABC affiliate, WVEC-TV, and WAVY-TV, the NBC affiliate station. He was also a top-rated morning show personality at several radio stations in Washington, D.C., Charleston, S.C., and Norfolk.

Verrett is a graduate of Howard University in Washington, D.C., where he was selected as one of the two outstanding graduates in journalism for 1989.

Growing up in New Orleans, Stan learned the importance of education and perseverance while his neighborhood was torn apart by gangs and violence. Stan takes pride in his work with the National Association of Black Journalists through mentoring young broadcasters and speaking to students at every opportunity.
