Hannah Salwen just completed her freshman year at New York University, where she is majoring in film producing.

A graduate of Atlanta Girls' School, she was a member of the student council, co-captain of the varsity volleyball team and part of the school's mentoring program called Girl Talk. Her favorite role at school was as co-creator of Hunger Week, a program that uses a series of experiences to teach students about the lives of kids in the developing world.

Hannah started volunteering when she was about 8 years old, at the Atlanta Community Food Bank and then at a restaurant for homeless men and women. Hannah has served on the board of the United Nations Foundation program called Girl Up, and in November 2010 was named one of Glamour Magazine's Amazing Young Women.

Hannah recently completed work on two films, one starring Paul Rudd and Paul Giamatti, and another that swept the major awards at the Tribeca Film Festival.

Hannah loves yoga, hip-hop music and really mind-bending movies.

  • "I just wanted to thank you again for being part of our annual gathering in New Orleans last week and for closing us down in such an entertaining and thought-provoking fashion. Your joint "gig" was a perfect melding of the program theme and the generational torch-passing to the Girls' Forum that always concludes the NCGS conferences. No one could have done it better or in such a genuine and heartfelt way. Thank you both!"

  • "Thanks-a-million for sharing your story with us. I have gotten nothing but great feedback. Truth be told, this is one of the first meetings in a long time where everyone focused on the message and not on their BlackBerrys or the clock. You did a first class job with the presentation and your story is certainly a great one. You struck a chord with a lot of folks in our group."
